Hello Summer!!! I don’t know about you all but I am lovin’ summer! June is my favorite month, in part because we are groovin’ right towards the longest, lightest, brightest day of the year…today! Oh summer how I love your green grass and true blue skies and the whir of sprinklers and robin song at dawn and the scent of iris and the taste of carbon on my tongue from grilled goodness and the feel of sun on my skin and the crack of an afternoon rainstorm…summer abundance! This little watercolor of the side view of a sunflower calls to mind the spirit of today’s amazing light. As does this lovely poem from Mary Oliver. Hope your day is filled with lots of paying attention to the beautiful details of this glorious season.
Thoughts on Life
Long May She Wave
Happy Fourth of July Everyone! I will be spending my day hiking in a place I love, with the man I love. Watching a parade. Eating all the summery foods I can get my hands on. Counting my blessings and loving my country (but not always it’s government). This week especially has me thinking about … Continue Reading
June Love
I’m back! For reals. I know it’s been a while…like a year. Life took over. Things happened. Mostly good. But I’m back with a new blog. Still under construction, but I’m liking it very much. So…it’s June!! My favorite month. I was honored to be asked by my beloved Two Hands Paperie to create their … Continue Reading
An Atlas of Unsettling Vision – Sketchbook Project 2013
Well.. I got my Sketchbook Project finished and mailed just in the nick of time yesterday! I'm not sure why I procrastinated, it was a joy to work on. My theme this year was "Almanac" but I made it into a kind of dream Atlas. I came across this wonderful quote from the movie, Here, … Continue Reading
May The Clarity of Light Be Yours
Well…I've been away for a while. Attending to home things and family and holiday dinners and school presentations and sick children and drawing excursions and a new computer, among other things. And now I feel, on this brand new day of 2013, that I can return a bit to myself. On the winter solsitce I … Continue Reading

Bowl Full of Joy
As the summer wanes, and the tomatoes are both at their peak out here on the Colorado high plains, and at the end of their road, I am reminded of this season's bounty and heart breaking beauty. The autumnal equinox is on Thursday and some of our nights are getting down into the 40's … Continue Reading
When The Fire Lays Down
We have been besieged by a massive forest fire in the mountains just west from where I live. A terrible kind of beauty. 91 homes have burned and the fire, as of today, is zero percent contained. I have been visualizing rain and just holding all those affected in my higher thoughts. At night … Continue Reading
