Taos Bound

I'm heading down the road today for a week in Taos. I'll be roaming the desert, making art, cavorting with friends and generally escaping the bounds of everyday life. I'll check in upon my return.

The Tent

We were asked to write a story in preparation for our Anderson Ranch class, Drawing As Installation. It was to be about a childhood memory that could contain exaggeration, imagination and invention. It didn't have to be totally true, but needed to have a grain of truth in it. Here is my story. If you don't … Continue Reading

More Summer Love

The Fourth of July always feels to me like the middle of the summer somehow. Technically, I think we have more summer left than we've just had, but it just feels like mid-summer. And this year I'm loving July as much as I did June. Maybe it's all the cool weather and rain we've had … Continue Reading

Drawing As Installation, sort of…

Our little escape to the hills last week was to Anderson Ranch in Snowmass, Colorado – just outside Aspen. Despite it's reputation as a celebrity hangout, it is one of the most beautiful parts of the state. And with all the rain the state has gotten, it was emerald green. Happy Trails!

I'm heading up to the mountains for the next week. Yup. Heading to the high country to soak up the blue skies (hopefully), the high altitude air, the wildflowers and some time with my husband. Enjoy the summer solstice and the first official week of summer!

Stencilry Play

I've had a little time this week to work on finishing up my online Stencilry class with the fabulous Ms. Mary Ann Moss over at Dispatch From LA. And there is still plenty of time to get into the next Stencilry class which will start up June 26th. If you are thinking about this and haven't signed … Continue Reading

Mandala Mosaic

Late spring I spent some more time in Susan Wechsler's studio working the mosaic magic. This time I went much bigger than before and tried my hand at a mandala. After digging around a flea market nearby for some vintage plates and saucers, I got out the tile clippers and went to work.  I just finished it up … Continue Reading

Moving On

It doesn't seem that long ago that fifth and tenth grades were starting in our house. And now we've completed that circle around the sun and it's dreamily, sleepily summer vacation! My career as a mother of elementary aged children is officially over. Finito. It's bittersweet. Each phase and year seems to be the best, … Continue Reading

Tales From Spain – Part 3 – Paella Al Fresco

A slower paced day in Marbella allowed us the opportunity to share a cooking class with Rashida Reidel learning to make a traditional Spanish paella. We began the day at the Marbella market, perusing wonderful produce… …and really amazing seafood. Fresh from the sea that day, we gathered up some boney fish for our fish stock as well … Continue Reading
