Marathon Key, Florida – A few years ago we left the day after school was out for summer to explore the Floriday Keys. Home to many a pirate hideout, it was a fun getaway with some family friends. Twisted mangrove swamps and little inlets and outlets. Not so many beaches, but relaxing and warm. I can imagine being marooned there, like the postcard above I glued into my journal.
I usually try to give you a few highlights with "Field Trip Fridays", but believe me, there are low lights as well. When traveling with kids, there's a surprise around every corner. Read the page for a synopsis. Laugh if you must – we were a rolling sick bay.
But after the first couple of days everyone was well and a good time was had by all. Loved the little shells and nuts from the coconut trees. Day dreaming of sun on my skin and the feel of warm sand under my feet. Happy Friday!
“…a rolling sick bay…” ??? YIKES!!!
kids are walking petri dishes all right.
Love your travel journals, as always.
Feel free to come by the studio with ALL your stuff.
The page in the last shot – the skins – is just fantastic.
