Late spring I spent some more time in Susan Wechsler's studio working the mosaic magic. This time I went much bigger than before and tried my hand at a mandala. After digging around a flea market nearby for some vintage plates and saucers, I got out the tile clippers and went to work.
I just finished it up this week and this beauty hangs in my studio, nearby my work table, bringing calm and light. It's amazing to me how much difference the grout makes. I'm digging the fractured colors and the buddha's energy.
My tea and garden beckon…Happy Friday!
how incredible it must feel to have your hard work glowing over you in your space now…..hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
so beautiful! smooches
…and it’s even MORE beautiful in, um: “person”.
I think that it needs it’s own spotlight….too “Buddha goes Hollywood”?
Another Meneley masterpiece.
How inspirational and meditative your mandala is with the colors, the sitting Buddha and candle. It’s gorgeous and calming all at the same time.
this is really gorgeous, makes me want to try my hand at mosaic!
Fran…the reflected light must just make this piece DANCE!
Hey, I just saw a doc. called 1000 Journals, and the disk had an extra in it about Artfest. I could have sworn I saw you in it. It was very quick, so maybe it wasn’t you. Unless, of course, you took a class with DeMeng at Artfest in 2006?
