I've been taking Miss Mary Ann's online class "Pure Experimentation: Stencilry" and having a blast donning my spray mask and going to town with a variety of spray cans and stencils.
My son was out of school yesterday so we spent a couple of hours stinking up the garage and going to town.
This is the back cover affixed with some tape that looks very stencily.
And the inside covers. This is a portfolio that will hold our other assignments and experiments. But…it would make a perfect journal cover just the way it is. I'm itching to sew up a signature of paper and attach it. Skip the laundry. Lock the studio door. Forget after school pick-up and dinner and start a new journal. I wish….
NOTE: There is still time to sign up for the class. Go here and sign up. Mary Ann is keeping registration open until April 24. The class includes 4 lessons – each lesson has a downloadable PDF and the class site has numerous how-to videos. Instructive and entertaining. Plus links to all the other students taking the class so we can be inspired by each other.
I didn’t know you were taking this!!! I think it will be such a great class…I’m going to have to wait until her next offering until I get through this next crazy month.
thanks!!! for last night! all the images are still swirling through my mind.

AND I love the new look here and your new banner!
Bravo!
Love the stencil/mask work and Mary Ann has done a brilliant job of organizing and teaching this class.
Can’t wait to see what’s up your spray-painty sleeve.
Wow- your stencil work is amazing and beautiful! I really like the scissors and people holding hands. Thanks for the heads up about your blog link. It’s fun to be in MA’s class with you.
I love that you are “stinking up the garage” with your son making art! Very cool idea to use stencils to create pages in your book.
Thanks for the note about your site~it looks wonderful and I’m glad to see that your last blog post wasn’t made last year:)
Great stencilry! I am not taking Mary Ann’s class, because we don’t have a garage, and the weather’s been too bad to spray on our tiny patio,:(
I may sign up just to see all of the videos and get the PDFs and then wait for better weather! I want to see what everyone’s been talking about!
I love your new header, too!
OK – when I read you were “going to town” with cans of spray paint – I thought “OH NO, she is now a graffiti artist in Niwot!” Adrenalin rush as I then wondered, “How is she doing this? I’m sure it’s legal… How can I do this?”
I am back to calm now as I realized you stayed in your garage. Will have to check out the class site after May/June. THANKS my friend! THANKS!
Such vibrant Fun you made!
Lovely.

These are great!!! love the stenciled tape and the people chains. What a great idea. Isn’t this the most fun? Do you think the ozone layer is in danger because of this class? don’t care! too much fun… I’ll think about that tomorrow, love scarlet
Oh, my! Wonderful!!
Great pages. They just light up this post!
