Whew! It's been a week around here. Tenth and fifth grade started in my house this week and I've been all about car pool schedules, re-ordering chemistry books, sack lunches and lost shoes. I'll be glad when we all get back in the groove. Thank god we have a 3 day weekend to recover and hang onto summer for just one more minute.
Here's the piece that I finished last week for the opening reception of Longmont Studio Tour. It's a great way to preview the work of the artists on the tour. If you're hanging around the area be sure to join us on September 12 from 6 – 9 at the Longmont Museum.
My wonderful husband made the shadow box frame for me and I have floated a page from my journal, torn out edge and all. I could have done this piece on a canvas or canvas board but I am experimenting with how to share journal pages and this is what came to me. Kinda cool, huh? It surprised me how different the page looks singled out and framed instead of being just one more page in my journal. I'll do 2 other journal pages like this for the tour weekend. It will be the 1st time I will put any journal pages up for sale. I'll let you know how it goes. I'll have lots of other smaller things for sale as well, which I will post just before the tour starts.
Have fun this weekend. Watch the speech tonight. Get involved. Let's not let this historic opportunity get away from us. Rock the VOTE!
Having seen this beauty “in person”…I can only say that it’s great here on the blog but even better face to face….er, canvas…whatever. Bravo for this experiment… a roaring success!
Yes! wonderful idea to single out, showcase…fine tune our eyes to really look at it.
THE SPEECH!!!! GoBama Mama!! It’s up to us now, to work to make this a reality…

Loving the colors of this page. And the way it is presented puts a journal page onto a whole new level.
What a neat piece, Fran!!!
